CHAPTER 4

I had a nice black eye for a few days. My parents agreed that it was best if I stayed out of school until it cleared up. My girls were calling and texting me like crazy. Wanting to know what was going on and if I was coming back to school. They also said that Jason wanted to know how I was. My dad had asked for his phone number and had called our cell provider and had it blocked so Jason couldn’t call or text me. I wouldn’t have accepted it if he had anyway. I no longer wanted to speak to Jason at all.

It was a week after Jason and I’s big brawl at the mall. At least that’s what everyone was calling it. Everybody was all on Facebook and Twitter talking about it. I found it funny until my dad came in and told me that he heard from mall management and they informed him that I was now banned from the mall. That was my favorite mall. I was moping around when my brother Jaiden came into the room. Jaiden was my half-brother. His mother was some chick my dad messed with when he first started seeing my mother, but she had been dead for awhile now. So Jaiden had been living with us for about ten years now. He was six months older than me, which I found odd because that meant that my dad was messing with both of our moms at the same time. I guess my dad really was a playa back in his day.

“What do you want?” I said sitting up and looking at him. “Daddy said get up and get dressed. We are having company today” he said. “Who?” I asked. “I don’t know. He said somebody he was cool with back in the day. Somebody named Keith. He was bringing his wife and kids, so you need to get ready because they will be here in about an hour or so” he said leaving out the room.

Great, another one of my dad’s friends from back in the day. Whenever they came over it was always nerve wrecking. They all remembered me from the time I was born, but I could never remember them. They would always talk about how I was as a little girl and how cute I was now. And don’t let them have kids, lawd, they were always brats.

I got up and took a shower and got dressed. I was doing my hair when my little sister Kaiya came in with a big smile on her face. “Sis, you need to hurry up and get downstairs” she said. “Tell dad I’m on my way. I’m almost done with my hair” I said looking at her. “You got to see who is downstairs” she said sitting on my bed. “Who is downstairs?” I asked looking at her. “I can’t tell you. You have to go down there and see. I think you will like it” she said skipping out of the room.
